Kat Lipson

Kat Lipson is an abstract artist based in West Bloomfield, MI. Growing up in Cleveland Ohio, Kat was deeply influenced by the stories of her Grandmother and Great Aunt surviving Auschwitz together. From an early age, she became fascinated with trauma, family dynamics and human behavior which led her to study Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating, Kat moved to Chicago where she received a Masters in Nonprofit Management from DePaul University. She worked in the nonprofit sector for 12 years before becoming a stay at home mom.

Through her education and work, Kat had the great privilege to travel to various parts of the world. Various eco-focused trips instilled a desire to become more environmentally conscious in her everyday life. She began focusing on her own consumption and making small changes to reduce her consumption. With each change, Kat felt more and more inclined to share her sustainability journey. She turned to Instagram as "kat_konserves" with the hopes of becoming a full time influencer/activist. Her goal was not fully achieved, however, she continues to get positive feedback about the impact of her platform.

Overtime, and with the help of many incredible artist friends and mentors, Kat has found her love for everything abstract! She absolutely adores performance art and mixed media, and is always finding new ways to learn and grow through the art and with it. The creative process continues to stretch her perception of what is possible. She loves exploring the concepts of darkness and light within herself, and aims to expose her own shadow as a path to healing and finding her inner light.
